A message to our patients regarding COVID-19 (Coronavirus)
As we all adjust to the new realities of the Coronavirus pandemic and the restrictions it has placed on us, we are trying to modify our office practice to accommodate the new world we live in. We are available to address your neurosurgical concerns so please call the office as you normally would. We are all also available for neurosurgical emergencies. Office appointments may be offered if indicated. We would like to reassure our patients that all precautions advised by the CDC are being scrupulously followed – including repeated wiping of all surfaces with disinfectants as well as maintaining the highest level of personal hand hygiene both prior to and after seeing patients. Please see this video for our accommodations and recommendations for scheduling elective surgery and procedures during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Spine and Brain Imaging Center (SBIC) is a state-of-the-art medical imaging facility that offers advanced radiological technologies usually associated exclusively with hospitals, but with the convenience and care of an outpatient setting. Located in Franklin, Wisconsin, in the metro Milwaukee area, SBIC is exclusively dedicated to imaging of the brain and the spine. At SBIC, we have the capability of performing:
The procedures are performed by American Association of Neurological Surgeons board certified neurosurgeon Dr. Arvind Ahuja, along with a highly skilled and compassionate nursing staff. The radiological procedures are supervised and interpreted by board certified neuroradiologists with results made available within 24 hours. Find out more about the conditions we test for here. At SBIC, we combine quality, convenience and safety so that each patient’s experience is unparalleled. Through our knowledge, our technology and our dedication, we aim to make every patient’s trip here a pleasant one.
MRIs, CT Scans, Angiograms, MRAs and Other Imaging Services
All MRI and CT scans performed at SBIC are read by board certified physicians who are fellowship trained in neuroradiology.
MRI
Our radiation-free, American College of Radiology (ACR) certified MRI machine has the latest software capability and produces the highest quality images possible. In addition, it has the added benefit of reducing table time for patients.
Spectroscopy
Spectroscopy is a special type of MRI imaging that helps differentiate brain tumor cells from radiation changes in people who have had brain tumor treatments already and are worried about reoccurrence.
MRA
Our MRI machine can be configured to perform an MRA, or magnetic resonance angiogram, which is used to diagnose aneurysms and carotid disease. This is a special type of MRI in which the machine is configured to examine vascular tissues (blood vessels) rather than brain parenchyma.
CT Scans
Our CT machine is also equipped with the latest technology available to ensure the highest possible image quality with the lowest radiation levels for our patients. Our CT machine is also American College of Radiology (ACR) certified and has routine physics examinations to ensure the radiation dose is as minimal as possible.
Dedicated to Patient Comfort
Patients who are claustrophobic can rest easy as our fully trained nursing staff can administer sedation to help calm nerves. In addition, headphones can be provided to patients who want to listen to their own music for additional comfort during scans.
